Plesk Control Panel

The Plesk 8.1 control panel provides easy yet comprehensive administration of websites and web services from a convenient web-based interface.

Streamlined for 2007, Plesk 8.1 now makes it even easier to manage multiple websites, domains, e-mail accounts, databases and FTP rights - all in the skins you prefer. Over 100 automated time saving enhancements include Ruby on Rails and MySQL 5 support. Plesk 8.1 also integrates seamlessly with the Virtuozzo Power Panel.

Integrated Virtuozzo Power Panel

The Virtuozzo Power Panel is a web-based recovery and administration tool, intended for use by virtual private server administrators. It offers high-level VPS controls including start, stop, reboot; services management and monitoring, backups, restore and repair; embedding SSH clients, re-install and an action log.

Dell PowerEdge 2950 Hosted

The Dell PowerEdge 2950 server has Intel Virtualization Technology (VT) embedded in the Intel chipset to efficiently virtualise workloads onto a physical server. Dell designed these machines specifically to maximise virtual private server performance. In fact, when Google technicians wanted new levels of performance and scalability for their Google Search Appliance, they selected a Dell 2950 PowerEdge server fleet.

The PowerEdge 2950 high performance model - as used by WebFusion - runs 2x Intel Quad-Core Xeon 5310 (2x4MB cache) 1.6GHz processors and 4x146 GB Serial Attached SCSI (10,000 rpm) hard drives.

Round-Robin CPU / Unique IP address

The main criticisms of VPS have been that resources can be hogged by other users and that some VPS platforms share IP addresses between nodes. But as WebFusion deploys round-robin CPU scheduling (assigning CPU time equally to each VPS in turn), and assigns a unique UK IP address for each VPS node, these are not issues for WebFusion VPS 2.0 customers.

Guaranteed & Burstable Dynamic RAM

To stop shared resources slowing down response times, WebFusion has launched burstable RAM. You get a guaranteed allocation of memory and as there is always more RAM than the allocation total, the extra memory is dynamically deployed to the VPS that needs it most at that time. RAID 10 Hard Disk Array

RAID is a system of linking together hard drives to form a single large capacity storage device. RAID 10 (also know as RAID 1+0) combines the performance advantages of data striping with the redundancy of mirroring.

Data striping - the data is split between two hard-disks increasing read-write speed
Data mirroring - this striped array is then replicated onto another identical set of striped drives

The advantages for you are increased performance and as all data is fully redundant, if a disk fails, your information is still available and therefore always safe and accessible.

Ruby / Ruby on Rails

Ruby on Rails is a web application framework that increases the speed and simplicity of database-driven web site creation. Released in 2004 and often shortened to "RoR", it's an open source project written in the Ruby programming language. Applications using the Rails framework are developed in the Model-View-Controller pattern.

Rails makes full use of the Javascript libraries Prototype and Script.aculo.us for AJAX and other animated visual effects. It's therefore ideal for nearly all types of web application including community building, e-commerce and content management systems.
