This answer explains how you can transfer an existing domain name so that it can be used in your reseller account.

Domain Name Transfers

If you already have a domain name registered or you prefer to register your domains with a third party, you can transfer these domain names onto your webfusion account.

To transfer any domain name, unless the domain name is the one specified when opening your account, you must first set the domain name up on our system via the Add Domain page of your control panel.

Your account is now configured ready for your new domain name. Completing the transfer is a straightforward process but varies depending on the extension of the domain name.

UK Domain Names (.co.uk, .org.uk .ltd.uk & .plc.uk)

To transfer a UK domain you must contact the current hosting company, and request that they amend the record for your domain name as follows.

You will be able to manage and renew the domain name via your webfusion control panel as soon as the IPS tag has been changed. However the propagation of the name server changes and the domain thus being hosted on our network may take up to 48 hours.

GTLD Domain Names (.com, .net, .org, .biz & .info)

To transfer a GTLD domain onto our network, you must have its name servers updated as follows.

Once complete the hosting of the web site and email for this domain name will be handled by your webfusion account, however the administrative control of your domain name will remain with its existing registrar and you will not be able to manage or renew the domain name via your webfusion control panel.

In order to ensure that we can provide the best possible service, we recommend that you also initiate a GTLD transfer request for the domain name when adding it to your account via the Add Domain page. This will transfer administrative control and responsibility for the domain to webfusion and you will be able to manage and renew the domain name via your webfusion control panel. All Other Domain Names

To transfer a domain name in any other extension, you must contact the current hosting company, and request that they amend the record for your domain name as follows.

This will configure the domain name to be hosted on our network. You will continue to be invoiced for all future renewals of your top level domain name by the current hosting company. webfusion cannot currently accept registrar transfers for domain names in other extensions.
