This answer explains how you can add a new domain name to your reseller account.
This article applies to Reseller Packages.
Add Domain Name
Use the Add Domain Name page to add a domain name to your account.
To add a domain name enter the fully qualified domain name or subdomain into the 'Domain Name' field without any www. prefix. Note that if you are adding a subdomain, it must be of a domain name already active on your account. If you wish to add multiple domain names at once, click the 'Add Multiple Domains' link and enter the domain names one per line into the 'Domains' text box.
If the domain is not yet registered and should be registered by webfusion specify 'New Registration'; if you select this option you will have an opportunity to enter registration details for the domain name and confirm the total amount before submitting the registration request. Select 'Existing Domain' if you do not want WebFusion to register the domain name or if you are transferring an existing domain name from another provider. Select 'Subdomain' if this is a subdomain of a domain name already hosted on your account.
Select the hosting account which the domain name should be mapped (pointed) to from the drop down list. Or if you are registering a new domain name or fully transferring a domain name into our administrative control, select 'No Mapping' in which case the domain name will be held on and can be managed via your account whilst it is hosted elsewhere or until it is required.
Click 'Next' to proceed. The resulting page depends upon the type you chose, details of the resulting page for each available type are shown below.
New Registration
If you specified 'New Registration', the availability of each domain name will be checked. If a domain name is already registered by another party, you can click 'View Whois' to view the domain name's whois record. If the domain name is available for registration, select the number of years you would like to register it for and click 'Next' to proceed.
The charges which will be incurred for the registration of your proposed domain name(s) are summarised at the top of the resulting page. If you have sufficient domain name tokens on your account to pay for a domain name, the domain is paid for using tokens, otherwise the cash price is shown.
You then have opportunity to specify the Legal Registrant, Admin Contact and Technical Contact for the domain name(s). These contacts will be shown in the domain name's whois record. For each contact, you can specify 'New Contact' and enter the contact details into the fields provided, make the contact the same as a previously specified one, or choose an existing contact from your contacts database.
If you have chosen to map the domain name(s) to 'No Mapping' you now have the opportunity to enter the DNS name server host names and IP addresses for the domain name(s). If you intend to host the domain name(s) with another provider you should enter their DNS server details here. If you leave the name server options blank, the name servers will be set to our default name servers, you will be able to update the name servers via the manage domain page later.
If you have chosen to map the domain name(s) to a hosting account, we will set to them to those appropriate for hosting domain names on your hosting account and the option to enter name servers will not be available.
Click 'Next' to proceed. The final order preview page will be shown which details the domain names which will be registered, the charges which will be made for doing so as well as the contact and name server details which will be assigned to them. Review the details carefully, then enter your PIN Number and click 'Register Domains' to proceed.
The order confirmation page shows the domain names ordered and the charges made. Requests will be sent to the central domain name registry to register your domain names. You can track the progress of the requests via the Requests section of the manage domain page. It normally takes no longer than 24 hours for the registry to confirm successful registration and a further 24 hours for DNS to propagate and the domain name to become active.
Existing Domain
If you specified 'Existing Domain', the transfer options for each domain name are shown in an adjacent drop down box. If you select 'Add To Account' the domain name will be added to your account and any required mapping created. For GTLD domain names you can also specify 'Registrar Transfer' to initiate a GTLD transfer request at the same time, see the GTLD transfers documentation for more information.
Click 'Next' to proceed, the domain names selected will be added to your account. Any action which you need to take to complete the transfer process will be shown. See the Domain Name Transfers documentation for more information.
Subdomain
If you are creating one or more subdomains, the subdomains will be added to your account or an error shown if there are problems with the data you submitted. It can take up to 1 hour for DNS changes to propagate and the subdomain to become active.
