I get a security warning when trying to login to my VPS, What now?

This article applies to Webfusion VPS servers.

This article explains why you may see a security warning appear on your screen when you login to your VPS.

Please Note: You will also see the security warning when you are trying to access the Virtuozzo Control Panel and Parallels Product Installer pages.

When you are trying to log into your Webfusion VPS for the first time, you may see a security warning appear in your browser. This happens because we are using a type of certificate with added security:

There are two types of certificates:

  • An Authority signed certificate
  • A Self Signed certificate

Both types of certificates have the exact same level of security, but the self signed certificate is issued by Webfusion, thus it needs to be accepted the first time it is being used in a users' browser. This occurs because the browser does not recognize Webfusion as the certificate issuer. Therefore you need to Accept the security warning the first time you try to access your server.

If you are using Firefox you will need to:

Confirm the security warning when you are accessing the login page of your VPS. Then you will need to follow these next steps:

1
