Vetting levels

There are three different levels of vetting, depending on what sort of SSL certificate you decide to buy.

The vetting process is simply to ensure you are who you claim to be. It's nothing personal - everyone who buys an SSL certificate gets checked. It's this that provides the confidence behind our SSL certificates.

• Domain checks
  These are basic checks to ensure you own the domain name you are buying the SSL certificate for.

• Business checks
  These comprehensive checks confirm the legitimacy of your company, and its identity.

• Extended checks
  These establish the legitimacy of your organisation within a specific jurisdiction of incorporation and confirm your main place of business.

We don't actually cary out the vetting ourselves - it's done by the issuing authority for your SSL certificate. However, once you've clicked the link in your approver email, vetting rarely takes more than a few days (domain checks are normally done in minutes), and you'll be told if you need to provide any further information to complete the checks.
